Experience the traditional Finnish sauna in the comfort of your own home with the Hekla Traditional Sauna collection. Designed for indoor installation, these handcrafted saunas combine classic sauna bathing with contemporary styling, quality materials and practical features.

The Hekla Traditional range uses an electric heater and sauna stones to create the high-temperature sauna environment associated with a traditional Finnish sauna. The air can reach between 70 and 90°C, while adding water to the heated stones creates the characteristic burst of steam known as löyly.

Available in four sizes, the collection ranges from the compact Traditional 160, designed for 2-3 people, through to the spacious Traditional 220, which seats up to six. The Traditional 210 and Traditional 210x provide intermediate options for 3-4 and 4-5 people respectively.

Each model is available in Hekla's Scandi and Nero finishes, allowing you to choose the look that best complements your interior. The collection combines Thermo-Aspen wood, a full-height glass front, tiered benches, concealed LED lighting and quick-build construction.

A Traditional Sauna Experience

Unlike an infrared sauna, a traditional sauna heats the air inside the cabin using an electric heater and hot stones. The Hekla Traditional range is designed to reach 70-90°C at bench height, giving you the heat and atmosphere associated with a Finnish sauna.

Water can be ladled over the sauna stones to create löyly, adding steam and increasing the intensity of the sauna experience. Hekla states that the Traditional models generally take around 30-45 minutes to reach temperature from cold.

The recommended heating system is the Harvia The Wall electric heater, available in 6 kW and 9 kW configurations depending on the model. The slim wall-mounted design keeps the heater neatly positioned against the cabin wall while retaining a substantial stone capacity.

Premium Thermo-Aspen Construction

The Hekla Traditional saunas are constructed using Thermo-Aspen, a thermally modified timber selected for its stability, moisture resistance and smooth finish.

The knot-free timber creates a clean, refined interior and is designed to remain comfortable against the skin at high sauna temperatures. The cabins also feature an 8mm safety glass front, concealed warm LED lighting and two levels of seating, allowing you to choose between a gentler position on the lower bench and greater heat on the upper bench.

Hekla Traditional 160 Sauna

The Traditional 160 is the most compact model in the collection and seats 2-3 people. Measuring 161 × 120 × 200 cm, it is designed for those looking for an authentic traditional sauna experience without requiring the footprint of one of the larger models.

The Traditional 160 has a 4m³ room volume and is supplied with a Harvia The Wall 6 kW electric heater. It features two-tier seating, Thermo-Aspen construction, 8mm grey safety glass, chromotherapy LED lighting and a ventilation valve.

Hekla Traditional 210 Sauna

The Traditional 210 increases the available space to accommodate 3-4 people, with dimensions of 211 × 160 × 200 cm. It offers a useful middle ground between the compact Traditional 160 and the larger family-sized models.

The cabin has a 7m³ room volume and uses the Harvia The Wall 9 kW electric heater in the recommended configuration. Inside, the Thermo-Aspen construction, tiered benches, 8mm grey safety glass and concealed chromotherapy LED lighting create a contemporary take on the traditional Finnish sauna.

Hekla Traditional 210x Sauna

For those wanting more room for family and friends, the Traditional 210x provides seating for 4-5 people. Measuring 211 × 205 × 200 cm, it offers considerably more floor space than the Traditional 210 while retaining the same 200 cm height.

The cabin has a 9m³ room volume and the recommended configuration uses a Harvia The Wall 9 kW digital-control heater. Two levels of seating, Thermo-Aspen construction, ambient LED lighting and an 8mm grey safety glass front complete the interior.

Hekla Traditional 220 Sauna

At the top of the Traditional collection, the Traditional 220 is designed for up to 6 people. Measuring 221 × 215 × 200 cm, it provides the largest interior of the four models and is suited to those looking for a more spacious home sauna.

The Traditional 220 has a 10m³ room volume and uses the Harvia The Wall 9 kW digital-control heater in the recommended configuration. As with the other models, it combines Thermo-Aspen construction with tiered seating, an 8mm grey safety glass front and chromotherapy LED lighting.

The Hekla Traditional collection is available in two finishes, giving you the choice between a lighter, natural Scandinavian aesthetic and the darker Nero finish.

Both finishes are available across the Traditional range, including the 160, 210, 210x and 220 models, so you can choose the size and capacity you need without compromising on the appearance of the sauna.

Every Hekla Traditional sauna is designed around the fundamentals of traditional sauna bathing: high heat, heated stones, water and steam. The combination of Thermo-Aspen interiors, tiered benches and the Harvia The Wall heater creates a dedicated sauna environment designed for relaxing at home.

The cabins are supplied as quick-build kits, with Hekla stating that most Traditional models can be assembled in a few hours. The heater requires connection to its own circuit by a qualified electrician, so electrical installation should be planned as part of your sauna installation. Appropriate ventilation is also required.
